What are squatter settlements?
Settlements built illegally in and around the city by people who can't afford proper housing

Over crowded
Lack basic services like electricity and water
Houses often single storey and crowded

These involve the government and local people working together to improve life in the settlement

People pay a small amount of rent for a site and can borrow money to improve or build a house on their plot
